Mine screen of z3 broken... It was really heart broken.. It was fallen just less than 1 ft hight with ordinary transparent back cover.. But really truly speaking i had not imagined that screen could get be broken from such a minimal hgt..It got a crack on the upper side..just hair line but upper toch stopped working...It was really painful I spent 48000/-.. Can anybody tell how much it costs to replace the same in india ..As Sony people asked me to wait for 10 days after that they will let me know the actual costing.. It is requested to Sony people to resolve this issue of such a fragile screen, even big car makers call back their faulty devices then y mobile companies do not resolve such issues.. I guess people.. Atleast I fell Sony made me fool... Sorry Sony is won't be now yr customer again.. Good bye..

Unfortunately, none of our phones are shockproof. Even if it is dropped from a lower height, the misfortune can be that it breaks. Since repair process and prices may differ from market to market, you would do best by raising this question with your local support team:

I agree mobiles are not shock proof etc.. But I have used all higher range mobiles of almost every brand.. It is really painful that z3 has such a delicate screen...It broken, falling less then 1 ft without force and it was not accepted to be broken.. In fact I found after two hrs that loss has been done.. It was really disappointing ... Z3 is also premium mobile of higher range, and must have premium quality hardwares..

One more thing I want to mention that the tuffened glass which applied was intact... The premium great quality screen is less delicate than the local tuffened glass.. Disgusting Sony...

Wow, the screen broke under the tempered screen protector. I finally got an exchange to a G3 after going through two cracked screen son my z3. Totally disgraceful by Sony,the Internet is filled with people who have had cracked screens on this defective phone.and Sony still will not do anything but treat its customers poorly. I will never buy a Sony again .

Absolute joke. Same thing happened to my brother for a 30cm fall.

It is pathetic to say that accidents happen, look after your phone. It is a phone, you take it with you everywhere and chances are it is going to fall at some point. I have dropped samsungs and iphones before and they have never cracked this easily. Sony makes a flimsy screen then charges a fortune to repair it.

The problem is the "misfortune" seems to be happening to everyone who drops this particular phone, and even to people who don't drop their phone at all (I've heard the phone cracks even when sitting on a table with no one touching it).

Sony needs to acknowledge this. I will not be buying another phone from you again.

Was sitting next to my daughter in Liverpool UNI before and she dropped her Z3 compact on to a tiled floor.Phone was in a Ringke fusion case.No damage whatsoever

I dropped my Z3, what I thought was completely protected in a Love MEI aluminum case with rubber bumpers all around the edge with Gorilla Glass screen protection....big crack, touch screen dead. Phone is now useless data on the internal memory is not retrievable. Love the phone but I cannot believe how delicate it is. On an aside my wife shattered her iPhone screen and could still use it even with bits of glass falling off of it...

Hi,

I've got an Xperia Z. I haven't dropped the phone or anything of the sort, but one day I took it off charge after about an hour to find that the touch screen was not working at all. Only until I removed my screen protector, I saw a crack on the screen which got progressivly worse throughout the day.

I've researhed online and there seems to be a lot of forums where people have said the same thing; cracks have just appeared on the screeen. I've called Sony, they gave me no advice on the issue. I have to send it in and if they decide it will not be covered under warranty I will have to pay a fee to get it shipped back. The fee covers the time it take for the technician to look at the phone, the storage and the shipping. That's ridiculous, the technician isn't my employee, this is what they are payed to do! For an issue that seems to be quite common, i would have expected better customer service and better knowledge/advice about it.

Any advice?

My new z3 broke the back glass when I had it in my pocket and sat down in my car. It seems to me it was defective as it suffered no fall or shock. What can I do?

Another case of sony's magic self cracking screens. I had a hard network recommended case and screen protector on my phone and it cracked without any impact whatsoever. I have sent it to Sony thinking it would be covered by the warranty but have been sent a quote for over £100! Sony are refusing to acknowledge the problem saying it was external damage. How many people will need to report the same problem before they acknowledge fault?

I'm sorry to hear that but even if you add a case and a screen protector your phone can still crack if you drop it, sit on it, hit it, etc, with that said, the screen can't crack by itself, if you took pictures, you can upload them and maybe someone can pinpoint out the point of impact.

My z5 premium fell less than a foot on to the floor of my car in its case and the screen cracked rendering the phone unusable

Cracked my screen 3 times in 3 months have been really careful with it but getting beyond the joke now as it fell out of my pocket getting a pan from bottom cupboard and cracked 😞
