It's normal that the phone gets a bit warm when you use it. When in use the components like CPU, battery, and other parts gives off heat. The phone has builtin protection against overheating and in case it gets too hot you will get a message about this on the screen and the phone may then turn off features or itself to prevent overheating.

STAMINA is a powersaving function that enables 15 minutes after you have turned off the display. It prevents apps from waking the phone and using data. While you're using the phone it will not affect how warm it gets.

I just brought z2 a week ago. but the unit is very easy to get hot. it's seems to me that z2 has hot dispation issues. it gets hot even i didn't use any camera function, such as play audio , watch viedo. if compared with my previous phone (other brand) , i almost didn't experience such a hot issue. i am wondering if it's a bug for z2 or wrong design? who can advise what's the cause of the issue?

I found that if I disabled "STAMiNA" power saving function, it works better now. I am wondering if the heat issue comes from the feature.

it's no denying that when you use camara function, it's easy to get hot. sometimes "warning" message pops up saying "the function" is stopped due to the unit's over heat. I experence 2 times after I brought it within 1 week. I don't know why the problem occureed as I never experience the issue on other brand product. is it normal?

Thanks your reply, I ,of course, know that the system has protection meachaism, but if users get hot in very short time. for my case , I started shotting (4k video) or using camera function (the later last longer to get hot), and the machine gets very hot within 1 minute and the function disabled forcefully by system. If users got a perfect features, and they can only use less than 1 minnuts, which means users cannot use the feature comfortablely. It's really a big problem. If you check out the forum some people have reported the same issue. I'm not the one to experience heat issue. To be frank, I am frustrated about this new phone. How come Sony doesn't notice heat issue before delivering the product?

So is mine. Battery lifespan was good at 19 hrs for first 2 weeks. Then, it went downhill to just 11 hrs even with mostly on standby. Also last 2 days , battery getting warmer. Notice under power management, it showed android system taking up 50% even during phone idling mode

I think it's the battery because I have seen a teardown from Sony smartphones and where the battery is the Sony Xperia z,z1,z2 overheats.Maybe you heard that some notebooks from Sony overheats or other things. It's the battery.Sony in future please produce better batteries or use some from other brands. But just good brands.

I got the Sony Z2 today and have been very excited as i have always had Sony mobile phones so couldnt wait to try out the features iv read so much sbout..unfortunately when it came to checking out the camera and all of its settings i noticed it became extremely hot on the back then a warning sign came up, i hadnt even been on it that long so immediately thought i had done something wrong as i have never come across this problem with any Sony phone in the past...i left the phone to cool down for a couple of hours then went back to it, testing out the camera only to find it was over heating again after just 5min!

From reading other comments, i realise im not the only one having this problem but is it fixable or is that just how the phone is?

Ill be honest, i really hope this is fixable as im sure i can speak for others when i say it lets the rest of the phone down and would feel a little disappointed by this

Other than that i love the phone,,thanks!

I went from Sony to Samsung and back to Sony. I was excited for this phone as I love taking pictures. I used the camera once while on hoiiday as it said it was too hot and had to close. I assumed it was due to the heat in Egypt. Then today I was testing the camera, I took 3 or 4 pics in my living room and the same warning came up. The back of the phone was extremely hot. It gets hot like this when I am playing games too. I am really disappointed with this feature I also fine the settings very basic, My husbands phone takes great quality and I am wonder in my Z2 is fualty and mine are no where near as crisp and clear as his and they are on the same settings
