Did you obstruct the proximity sensor?

Does this also occur when making or receiving regular phone calls? There is a sensor at the top of the device that will turn the display off when it is covered by for example, your ear.

If you go to Settings > Support > Xperia tests > Proximity sensor, you will find a test for this sensor.
