Out of nowhere, my phone cannot use any GPS functions, I've restarted my phone and tried GPS apps but nothing has helped.

Settings > location > set it to high

settings > about phone > diagnostics > test > test GPS

The setting has always been set to high and I performed that test and it failed. I've only had this phone for about three months, is it common for these phones to experience problems?

Sorry to hear about the GPS issues, I hope we can help resolve this for you.

If possible are you able to boot the handset into Safemode, this will help determine if the issue is related to third party software or not.

That has fixed the issue! I will Uninstaller apps to see which it was. Thank you! I'll also update this post with which one so anyone who searches for this can do the same.

Make sure your phone is switched to on and any othes (possibly your old phone) is switched off.

Sorry it's taken so long for a reply. After doing the safe mode restart, it worked just fine, however I realized I had my WiFi on so that located my phone. My problem is the GPS using only mobile data. I have no problems with WiFi locating me in either safe mode or normal mode. I will retry this and post here to update.

Performed another safe mode restart, this time without WiFi on. My phone can find about a 3-5 mile radius around me but places the blue dot (using Google maps) about a mile away from me. What should I do from here?

@NealR, I just tried this and I switched from an iPhone so there were no other things listed since they dont use that the same way. I also tried deleting location history but that hasn't fixed anything either.

You need to enable your gps by scrolling to settings >> location >> Enable location.

In any case, if your GPS is not working properly you can test it through the Support app which is present on every recent Sony Xperia smartphone.
