topic Screen goes black during calls in XA Series

I have an Xperia XA and during a call, the entire screen goes black. I am unable to end calls as even when I take the phone away from my ear, it remains black. It also happens during calls in apps. I ran a test device and confirmed the sensor is not working. Is there any way I can turn the sensor off?

I'm afraid not, I do not have anything on the phone so I'm not sure why the issue persists

@Meabh

in that case, you could try to clean the sensor but most likely its a hardware issue, if so then you will have to contact your Local Support to get it inspected. Before doing so, you could repair the phone with Xperia Companion.
