I'm trying to set a notification sound but there is no option for this

Hi @sqrooup, let me see if I can help out here!

There is a way to change the notification sound for incoming messages, however for XA1 Plus and Android Oreo, it is done using the phone settings and not in the settings in the app itself. Find and tap Settings > Apps & notifications > Configure notifications > Notifications > Messaging > Messages > Sound.
