New XA2 doesn't charge, except when forced

Hi there

My new XA2 doesn't seem to charge. If it does, it only goes to 25-50% but not more. I figuered out on the "doesn't seem to charge" page that a 2-minute restart resolves this issue but it isn't a durable solution. After all the phone is new...

Is there any way to resolve this issue?

- New XA2

- All up to dat

- Using the right charger

- Plugged in overnight, charges not at all, drains or sometimes goes to values between 25-50%

- Charges nominally after 2-minute shut down procedure

- However, the 6 second restart does not solve the problem

- Battery saver was on and off some nights, same result

- For example right now it's plugged in, I started writing at 44%, now it's 43% and draining

The screenshot shows 100% (plugged in at work using 2-minute restart) and ovrr night a very slight charge of a few percent from 23 to 27% and then after waking up I did another 2-minute restart and it vharged tto 45% until I had to leave for work:

I tried a factory reset now (via settings -> reset) and it didn't work either. The software repair via Xperia Companion is not working because the computer doesn't recognize the phone when the USB is connected (with low volume **bleep** pressed when plugging in).

Any help is appreciated! But as I said, this is a new phone... I bought it because my XA1 had problems charging after a year. Liking Sony I bought the XA2, but have now again charging problems... 😞

Looking like it's a faulty battery, can you perhaps have it replaced with it just being new?

Apparently it isn't the battery. The store doesn't know either. I'll get my money back now and am deciding if I'll try another XA2 or switch to Samsung. Thing is, I bought the XA2 because the XA1 had charging problems after a year, only to buy a lemon XA2 that has charging problems as well. Thanks for the answer though!

I saw an advertisement for the Huawei phone and I'm thinking I may go for that brand next time.

I have exactly the same issues and I see that there has not been a resolve posted for this issue.

My phone is 6 months old and wont pass 25% charge, I have done all the resets listed above but no change!

Is this a software issue or just a crap battery.

I must say I have an all Sony entertainment system including 3 TV's two speaker bars and a s3 and they are top quality however the two Sony xperia phones I have tried have both been rubbish.

Please tell me do I take this back for exchange to a real phone like Samsung or do you have a fix?

It would be useful if Sony acknowledged this problem and released something to match. As much as I like Sony's phones I just can't trust them anymore and the lack of concern at this ongoing problem annoys me. I've changed the battery, the docking port and its still not resolved, does seem like a software issue to me. I've had a a battery at completely zero, turned on 5 days late and got 15%, new battery no change.

Adding my updates with unfortunately no solution since I am experiencing exactly same trouble as described above.

The xperia XA2 does not charge when switched on: charging over a full night gave additional 3% charge.

Factory reset did not gave any improvements since same charging behavior were witnessed.

With this, it seems to me that something in the software does not allow proper charging when phone is switched on.

Any update is welcome. Thanks.

I don't have this issue with the Xperia XA2 H3113 either when charging on or off, I do wish the option for a sound when 100% though.

I have just experienced this fault too. I have had the phone for several months but today for the first time the phone wouldn't charge. I tried another cable and I tried different USB ports and it still didn't even light up. I tried restarting the phone as a poster above said, and now it is charging. I hope this doesn't become a regular problem.
