Hi,

I'm looking to use a Sabrent Lavalier CLip-ON mic with my XA1 but it won't work via the video function. It keeps defaulting to the internal mic and I want to use this external one.

I want to know this answer as well. I tried using the included headphones while using the camera and still it defaulted to the internal mic.

I talked to Sony Support and after cutting through here's the answer. The camera doesn't support external microphones! They suggested finding a video camera app on Google Play.

amazing work Sony! But that in your marketing material. Our camera is so great that if you want to get full functionality make sure you download 3rd party software to get full use of it.

Any suggestions from anybody on what video camera app to use?

I found through the mic instructions to use Open Camera app from the Google Play Store. It has options for using an external. However, another person found this didn't work, so he suggested using a Y-splitting adaptor and that fixed the problem for some reason.
