Low microphone volume

when i'm having calls or send voice messages over whatsapp, it appears my microphone volume is very low, even when talking directly into the mic.

i don't use any covers so the mic is free. i also don't use app's that would make the mic operate badly...

on the phone i can't discover mic options..

i hope sony can give me some answers on this.. it's a brand new phone and i'm a little dissapointed by this..

Hi @monsieurf, welcome to the community. I am sorry to hear about this issue.

Do you only have the problem in WhatsApp or does it do the same thing in other apps?

Can you please test the microphone under Settings > About phone > Diagnostics > Test > Microphone.

Can you also do the same thing in safe mode too?

well, it seems the overall volume of the microphone is quite low.

when sending a voice message with whatsapp or facebook messenger my voice is quite weak

Is it the same in the diagnostics test? If so, you may wish to contact your Local support team.

If not, and it is only a problem in third party applications you may wish to contact the application developers to notify them of the issue.

something As I connected phone with jack pins on AUX in car radio Nobody can hear me, yet with the old Sony Z1 compact never had any problem.

Hope that you will do something soon enough

In phone app type:

*#*#7378423#*#*

and it will open Service/Diagnostics. Tap on Service Menu, than Microphone, record your voice than listen. Same for the Secondary Mic.

Thanks, that is something to begin with ive got in to settings .

But unfortunately i can't change anything, like to increase volume on microphone sensitivity...All you can do there is test what already is preset and that's it : (

I have a big problem on my Sony XA1... normal calls ZERO mic sound, if I put on loudspeaker it´s working fine!
I test with *#*#7378423#*#* my XA1, and the main microphone don´t work at all.
And the secondary it´s working fine.
Is it hardware or is there something I can do by software???

Hi I have run the diagnostics for the microphone - no sound. Secondary microphone is fine. Vodafone shop suggested a reset, after saving all of the data?

Is this likely to work or are they just fobbing me off?
